Jeffs in Takeover Deal

Coach firm Jeffs has been taken over by one of Britain's biggest bus operators.

The move sees Helmdon-based Jeffs become part of L.F Bowen Ltd., a subsidiary of the Moseley Group (PSV) Plc, of Loughborough.

Jeffs, established almost 50 years ago, operates a large fleet of buses and coaches from four depots - at Helmdon, Buckingham, Greens Norton near Towcester and Witney.

The firm is engaged in private hire, group tours, contract services, and local bus routes. Jeffs also operates a coach tour and excursion business from its retail shop in Parson's Street, Banbury.

Former owner Ken Jeffs, 72, will stay on as a director of the company. He said: "With no family continuity and given my age, I was anxious to secure the future of the business and I am delighted to have reached an agreement with the Bowen Group."

Kevin Lower, chief executive of the Bowen Group, said Jeffs would operate as a separate coach company within the group which includes Bowens, Yorks Coaches in Northampton, and Appleby's Coach Holidays in Lincolnshire. The group runs more than 150 vehicles.
