Tree Planting in the Jubilee Wood

by Audrey Forgham

On a lovely sunny day in March  the whole of Helmdon School, and some little ones from Acorns Pre-School, marched up to the Jubilee Wood at the end of Cross Lane.  There, with the permission

of the landholder, they planted 100 small saplings in honour of the Queen’s forthcoming Platinum Jubilee, to add to the ten-year-old saplings planted ten years ago at the Diamond Jubilee of Her Majesty the Queen. There was a brilliant atmosphere.  The children were excited but incredibly well behaved, and will surely remember making their contribution and in time go up to the wood to see the result of their efforts.
