Extracts from The Vicar’s Letter (Richard Rowbury)
……….I am very glad to say that at Helmdon, on the last Sunday in the month, where there was only one Service, there were 42 communicants. Quite obviously people had made an effort to come together on this day, as I have previously suggested, as the family of the Church, uniting in a corporate act of worship. While this number of Communicants was good, I hope that on May 21st there will be an even better response. …………. I am glad to say that the Family Service at Greatworth is being much better supported, while at Helmdon the attendance is very spare. It makes nonsense of the whole purpose of Sunday School, if it is to be completely divorced from Church attendance, without parents and children coming together as a family unit.…….
I would like to record my thanks to Mrs G Watson and to the Helmdon members for the coffee evening which was arranged to raise money for the Helmdon Branch funds. A profit of over £15 was made, and I congratulate all those who made this splendid result possible.……
