MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT made this day of
One
thousand nine hundred and eleven between THE GUARDIANS OF THE POOR
of the BRACKLEY UNION in the Counties of Northants Oxford and Bucks
(hereinafter called "the Guardians") of the one part and LUKE WATSON
of Helmdon in the county of Northampton Baker of the other part
WHEREBY IT IS AGREED as follows:
1. The Guardians do hereby bind a poor child named Leonard Higgins
aged fourteen years belonging to the Parish of
in
the said Union who has been deserted by his parents and chargeable
to the said Union to serve the said Luke Watson in his trade or
business as a Baker for the term of THREE YEARS from the first day
of January One thousand nine hundred and eleven determinable as
hereinafter expressed And the said Luke Watson agrees to take the
said Leonard Higgins into his service and instruct him to the best
of his ability in the said trade or business.
2. THE Guardians shall provide the said Leonard Higgins with an
Outfit of clothes at a cost not exceeding Four pounds at the commencement
of the term here agreed upon
3. THE said Luke Watson shall provide board and lodging for the
boy during the whole term and washing and mending during the first
year thereof
4. THE said Luke Watson shall pay the said Leonard Higgins Sixpence
per week for the first six months of the term One shilling per week
for the next six months Five pounds for the second year payable
in quarterly instalments and Seven pounds for the third year payable
in quarterly instalments
5. THE said Leonard Higgins shall provide his own clothing and washing
after the first year of the term
6. THE Guardians shall be at liberty to send a Representative to
visit the boy once in each quarter
7. ONE month's notice to determine this engagement may be given
by the Guardians or the said Luke Watson at any time.
IN WITNESS whereof the said Luke Watson has hereunto set his hand
and the Guardians have caused their Common Seal to be hereunto affixed
