Residents have their say
Hundreds of residents in Helmdon have had a chance to have
their say on the future of the village.
A Future Needs Day was held in the village recently when
villagers were asked for their contributions to go towards
Helmdon's Parish Plan.
County councillor James Shepherd-Cross and leader of South
Northants Council, Robin Digby, joined the residents when
they visited Helmdon School at the beginning of August to
take part in a community-wide consultation.
Helmdon has recently been granted funding from the Countryside
Agency's Vital Villages Programme, which is sponsored by
South Northamptonshire Council and Northamptonshire ACRE,
to carry out a Parish Plan.
The Parish Plan is intended to ascertain the needs of the
village and the day was to encourage residents to share
their views.
Danny Moody, a parish councillor and chairman of the Helmdon
Parish Plan steering group, said: "Several thought-provoking
ideas that we received will form the basis of the village
survey in September, giving everyone a further chance to
air their views on the future."
