It's carnival time in Helmdon this Bank Holiday weekend.

And organizers are hoping for the glorious weather of late to continue allowing for people to fully enjoy the three day event.

The theme for this year's village event is School Days with all the activity taking place on the Sports Field, Wappenham Road, Helmdon.

This entertainment kicks off at 7.30pm on Saturday evening, August 23 with Northampton band Accrington Stanley playing live and there is to be a children's disco.

On Sunday afternoon, August 24 there is jazz to be enjoyed between 12.30pm until 3pm from The Porterhouse group. Tickets for this are £2.50.

Then the main event, the carnival itself is on Monday, August 25.

The floats and procession assemble at the Village School from 1pm.

The procession is being led by the Army CADETS band from Banbury and joining them will be the Towcester majorettes, Royal Oak Morris Dancers from Eydon, vintage tractors and a tank, courtesy of Nick Mead.

The carnival officially opens at 2pm.

At around 4pm Skydivers from Hinton Airfield will be parachuting in.

Other attractions will include a variety of stalls, fairground rides, pony rides, and a Punch and Judy show.
