Keeping up Winning Run

Good luck comes in fives it would appear after Helmdon scooped its latest Calor Village of the Year title.

Parish council chairman Peter Burns this week picked up the first place trophy in the medium-sized village class for Northamptonshire. It was a close-run race with East Haddon narrowly missing the title.

Helmdon also took runner-up category in the information technology category it won last year for its outstanding website and communications.

And it was highly commended in the Defra-sponsored building community life category.

Geddington won the large village section and went on to pick up the overall title for Northamptonshire bumping Helmdon into second place.

Northamptonshire ACRE runs the local leg of the awards and the prize-giving ceremony was held at it Hunsbury Hill centre on Tuesday, July 25th.

Cllr Burns said: "We had a superb evening. Everyone in the village is to be congratulated, especially those that turned out when the judges visited in June."
