Dancers Get The Strictly Bug While Raising Over £7,000 For Local Charities
Sixteen fundraisers raised more than £7,000 by taking part in a Strictly Come Dancing competition in Syresham on Saturday.
The 16 volunteers were paired with dance tutors from the Step by Step Dance School to learn a waltz and cha cha. Their performances were judged by a five-strong panel.
The event was organised by the Rev Will Adams, rector of the Astwell Benefice group of churches. ‘The purpose was for the Astwell group of churches to do some fundraising for their chosen charities,’ he said.
‘Participants got sponsorship for oganisations including Northampton Women’s Aid, Northants Accommodation for the Single Homeless, Katherine House Hospsice, Haiti and Cynthia Spencer House in Northampton.
‘Apart from the fundraiising it was a joy to watch them have such a ball, to have such a good time and forge friendships.’
The benifice includes the parishes of Syresham,Helmdon, Weedon Lois, Wappenham and Radstone. The event took place at Syresham Village Hall.
