Helmdon Fair Is A Great Success

The residents of Helmdon raised more than £2,500 last weekend as they welcomed dozens of visitors to their annual Village Fair.

Co-organiser Niki Philips ran her own stall selling plants, bric-a-brac and was also challenging children to guess how many marbles were in a jar.

She said:” It was very busy this year; we had a lot of visitors from outside the village.  I had people on my stall from Bicester.”

Visitors enjoyed a range of stalls including a  tombola, book stalls, a gift and jewellery stall, a fruit and vegetable stall, home-made cakes stalls and fun for children with skittles and quoits.

A prize draw included two tickets for the Silverstone grand Prix.

There was a barbecue in the Bell pub and money raised during the fair will go towards running costs of the church, St Mary Magdalene Church.

Mrs Phillips thanked everyone in the village who helped run the fair and the businesses that donated gifts for the prize draw.

She added:” We do appreciate their support, without them we would not have done so well.”
