Pretty pooches and handsome hounds were the stars of the show at a fundraising went on behalf of Helmdon Acorns Pre-School.

On Sunday, more than 200 people turned out to enjoy a range of entertainment at the Helmdon Family Dog Show held in Helmdon Sports Field.

The event raised about £800 for the village pre-school which is a registered charity managed by a voluntary committee.

Event organiser Laura Wilson said she was delighted with the final outcome and added: “We are really pleased with the level of support which exceeded our expectations.

“We’ve seen such a varied selection of dogs from Dachshund to Great Dane and the judges were certainly kept busy on the day choosing their favourites.

“We are already thinking about how we can build upon these foundations to make the show bigger and better next year.”

Running alongside the dog show was a variety of entertainment including the Northamptonshire Dog Training Club Flyball Team.
