Former National TV Producer Now Rector Of Rural Parishes

Carole Peters, who has worked on Timeteam and Changing Rooms and has produced TV documentaries for all five main UK channels, has become Rector of the Astwell Benefice which comprises the Northants villages of Helmdon, Stuchbury, Radstone, Syresham, Whitfield, Lois Weedon, Plumpton and Wappenham. She was licensed by the Bishop of Peterborough last week.

Describing herself as “Bridget Jones meets the Vicar of Dibley”, Carole has reported from war zones and visited every continent except Antarctica. A graduate in archaeology who began her media career in newspapers and radio, her TV documentaries include series on espionage, science fiction and serial killers. She has written a book on serial killer Dr Harold Shipman.
 
She was ordained into the Church of England four years ago after, she says, “God spent many years, whispering in my ear, then tapping me on the shoulder, then as that wasn't getting the desired effect, he put people and situations in my way as ‘signs’ he was calling me to ministry. Finally, I think he got fed up that the gently, gently approach was having no effect so he simply made it impossible for me to say no!”
 
Before moving to Northants Carole was the Assistant Curate for the Buckinghamshire villages of Ivinghoe, Pitstone, Slapton and Marsworth, and of Aston Clinton, Buckland and Drayton Beauchamp. “I love entertaining,  can’t resist dancing to any 70s, 80s and 90s pop hits, spend time walking my two lively collie dogs, and never tire of chatting to people,” she says.
