Helmdon Primary School has received £100 to spend on science equipment.

The school received the cash after taking part in the Ariel Stains and Science Schools Programme.

Pupils were asked to design the ideal washing tablet to achieve the best cleaning results.

Their findings had been entered into a national competition where the primary school has a chance of winning sports clothing.

Headteacher Sue Blackburn said: "Our year 6 pupils had a wonderful time doing the experiments and gathering data.

"Science can be fun and exciting for children if taught in the right way and we're delighted that our approach to the subject means we have been chosen to receive this award."
