School sends over £1,000 to Send a Cow

Harvest festivals at Helmdon Primary School and Helmdon Church have helped to raise money for an organisation that helps people become self-sufficient.

After the two harvest festivals the goods taken were auctioned off and the money, which totalled £1,245.76, will be sent to Send a Cow. The organisation provides families with a cow so that when the first calf is born they pass the calf to another family. The work has been going on in Uganda but is now spreading to other countries.

A cheque was presented, from the school and residents in Helmdon, Syresham, Whitfield and Radstone, to Sandra Herbert, a representative of the organisation, in an assembly on Monday 15 October.
