Village web site shows
the way
A SMALL village web site has had to relocate after being swamped
with hits.
Last year www.helmdon.com was put on the Worker's Education
Association national site as an example of an excellent community
resource.
Included on the site is an events calendar, news of village
activities, parish council matters and a message board.
It is also used as a resource for local and family historians
with a village history trail, old articles and photographs.
The site is maintained by Danny Moody. He said "The best
thing about it is the depth of content. With a lot of sites
they look very bright but when you click on a link there is
hardly anything there.
"We have quite an active local history group in the village
and all their information is on there. We have had hits from
people all over the world saying how useful it has been to
research their ancestors."
Due to its relocation to a bigger home on the world wide web,
the f2s has dissapeared from the address. It is now accessed
by www.helmdon.com.
