Long Acre - One of the wonderful listed buildings in Helmdon.

Long Acre has a remarkable, decorated doorway.  The stonework is sophisticated and does not fit in with the rest of the building.  This could either be surplus material rescued by local masons from unfinished commissions, or it could have come from nearby Astwell castle which was drastically reduced in size in the last quarter of the eighteenth century.
